We are extremely excited to announce the 3rd annual Olde Hickory Pro-Am Competition that will take place March 31st 2012. In order for this event to be a success I am asking for your help. Help us by ENTERING YOUR BEER! Many of you have not entered a homebrew competition before but do not let that stop you. It is a great way to get feedback on your beer in an extremely constructive way from people who really know beer. We are looking to increase our entry count this year to 150 entries. I have personally tasted the beer that our members brew and I can say with certainty that the beer is just as good as the beers we have judged in other competitions around North Carolina. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by participating. Just think, this summer you could be sitting back with your friends and families enjoying a pint or two of beer that YOU brewed at Olde Hickory or you head down to the Tap Room or Amos Howard’s with your co-workers and there’s YOUR beer on tap for everyone to enjoy! Not to mention it will be entered into the Great American Beer Festivals Pro-Am competition in Denver Colorado in September.

This competition is open to anyone in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia but I really want the focus to be on our club’s fantastic brewer’s. Enter as many beers as you can and let’s get the Pro-Am Best of Show winner from CLASS!

Don’t forget you need to be an American Homebrewers Association member to be eligible to win Best of Show and be entered into the GABF Pro-Am. You can sign up with the AHA here

Follow the tab off of the main page or click here for all of the contest rules.

Register for the competition here

Please contact me if you have any questions and let’s make this a great event!

Cheers!

Jason Howard

Hops & Grapes, formerly known as Gail’s Hops & Grapes, is located on the north side of Hickory, NC off Hwy 127N in the North Pointe Shopping Center (right beside Planet Fitness).

Please drop by when you have a chance. Bobby needs your business and your comments on how to make Hickory’s best beer store even better. Already in planning stages is 1) an expanded Carolinas’ Beer section featuring growlers, mini-kegs and bottles from North and South Carolina craft breweries; 2) craft beer kegs-to go and special order kegs; 3) beer school; 4) a rare beer club; and 5) your suggestion here. See, he does need your help.

Hops & Grapes has on- and off-premise licenses for beer and wine, so you can drink while you shop.

If you’re in the neighborhood on Thursday, drop by for a free taste or two on Bobby and Hickory distributor, Best of Beers. You’ll find a variety of newly released winter seasonals and cellared beers to select from.
